Old Chang Kee Halal Certification.
Old Chang Kee desire to go for Halal certification arises as the demand for Halal food has always been there for many years.
The preparation to go Halal began in August 2004.
We engaged a consultant to assist in our process to go Halal.
Our Management and executives went through a Halal orientation talk conducted by the consultant.
All Old Chang Kee staff was, by then, informed of its intention to go Halal.
All Halal non-compliance items, if any, from all our premises (factory, central kitchens and outlets) were also disposed off.
We, then, began to actively hire Muslim staff to fill our outlets as part of terms and conditions of Halal certification.
On completion of all our documentation process, our Halal certification application was submitted at the end of October 2004.
We took three weeks in November 2004 to carry out ‘sertu’ or ritual cleansing of the production line, central kitchens and outlets. This entailed cleaning of the equipments, utensils, freezers and chillers.
Halal training course was also conducted for Old Chang Kee Muslim staff to enhance their competency in Halal matters.
All of the above points illustrated Old Chang Kee’s commitment and seriousness towards the Halal process.
Old Chang Kee product, outlets and 2 central kitchens were officially certified ‘Halal’ by MUIS on 7 January 2005.
Do enjoy Old Chang Kee fare !!!
